Guy Hedley Fans?

Guy Hedley Fans?

Alright... so I've heard and noticed that the majority of Hedley fans are female. Now, I want to ask: what is the approximate ratio of guy fans to girl fans? I mean, their music is great, so why doesn't everybody enjoy it? Why are there less Hedley fans who are guys? Can someone explain this? I, for one, am a male Hedley fan, and loving it.

There always comes a point where we need to decide for ourselves what kind of person will we be? Will I go get it? Will we wait for it to come get us? Does "it" even matter that much? Does anything matter at all?

    There's really no comparison

There's really no comparison when it comes to male and female Hedley fans.

In relation to the females, it's kind of like this: when it comes to us.

The ratio on the boards is

The ratio on the boards is something like
1 p33n:1036 chicks. I asked a d00d the other day if he listens to Hedley and he was like "DO YOU THINK I'M GAY?". I was like "yes, but that's not what I'm asking..." :|

Steve, it takes a real man to admit they like a band that isn't typically a "guy" band. You have a lot of balls. I applaud you.

You fill my soul with vomit, then ask me for a piece of gum. Bitter and dumb, you're my sugarplum.

at my old job there was a guy who was self-proclaimed, obsessed with hedley. i was shocked! we waited in line together to buy tickets when they played here. i only went at 5:30 (ha! only) but he was there the night before

that being said, i've been to shows with a surprising amount of guys. there's still no comparison to the girls, but they're starting to figure out what it's all about. one of the strangest moments ever was when i looked behind me at that show and saw all these guys from my classes singing along to for the nights! haha.

but ya. including you, i could probably name 4 guys on this forum.

I've seen a fair amount of guys at shows here.... but 99% of them are standing there looking like they wanna off themselves, cause they were dragged along by their girlfriends.. haha.

    here we stand, dreamin' hard

im sure there are a lot..

im sure there are a lot.. just not ones who areinto following their moves

I know, a lot of guys think

I know, a lot of guys think Hedley is gay. They usually don't have anything to back it up with, though. I never really considered Hedley to not be a guy band. I'm a guy, and I just loved their music.

My best friend's boyfriend is obsessed with them. And clearly he's not gay, hahah.
I don't know what it is about Hedley that repels guys. All I know is that they make awesome music, and I'd hate them to be labelled as a chick-band.

So true. Every time I mention Hedley around any one in my school, I always hear an "Ew!" from someone. I'm pretty much the only fan in my school.

    alot of guys don't like

alot of guys don't like hedley because they're jealous of the attention they get from all the girls. or they wish they were half as good of musicians. jealousy is a bitch.

i'm paving new ground, won't see you around.

I don't know why more guys

I don't know why more guys don't like Hedley, but I do. Some guys in my class kept calling Hedley gay, but I didn't care. I like them and that's all that matters.

I should also mention that aside from Hedley, I'm madly obsessed lately with the Jonas Brothers. I don't run around openly admitting that one usually, but if someone asks, I'm not gonna lie.

Yeah, most people would label JB as a girl band too, but it's cool if you like them. Basically, I'm pissed off with the stereotype of bands like Hedley and JB as "chick" bands.

Hahahahahahhhhhh... yeah, you could definitely be better off without admitting that. They are probably the biggest chick-band of our time.
But hey, music is supposed to make you happy. If JB do it for ya, then go nuts.

Lets all think about this. If

Lets all think about this. If Jacob was a girl on Idol would you ever have looked up hedley.?
If hedley was all girls would you guys still be as into them as you were?

    Probs not eh?

    Hahaha probably not. I think

Hahaha probably not. I think the attention Hedley gets from girls is mainly based on their looks at first. Im not meaning to be generic, but from the majority of girls I hear "OMG JACOB'S SO HOT" or something along those line.
But I agree, it's sad that more guys dont like Hedley.

i crave you close, i need you near.

I definitely would be. If chick-Jake was as talented as Jake, then there is not a single doubt in my mind that I'd listen the shit out of this band. I've been a Hedley fan for about 3 years, and only learned their names about 3 months ago.
It's all about the music for me, as it should be for everyone else.
I'm not gonna deny that Chris is insanely sexy though.

    ^ Yeah agreed! I never

    ^ Yeah agreed!
I never watched Canadion Idol so I hadn't seen Jacob or any of them before but I came across their music... (first it was the original gunnin and i adored the song but had no idea who sang it, then saw the remade version video one day and flipped cause it was the song, yet different, that i had loved. i just basically listened though, i didn't notice what they looked like. then heard 321 next and blah blah blah) ...anyways i had no clue what they looked like but i heard they were coming to do a little free festival show in my hometown so i went and LOVED them...and have been into them ever since. obviously it was at that show that i noticed they were really handsome to boot!

    Ps. It would be ridiculous

Ps. It would be ridiculous though to deny that probably a decent percentage of girls like the band because of their good looks. there's no denying that!

And I would agree that a lot of guys dislike the band out of jealousy of the attention the hedley guys get from females.

    Hahahhhh Jenna, same with me.

Hahahhhh Jenna, same with me. I didn't really get this attached to Hedley until they did that show in my town, and I'd always liked their music but seeing the energy they give off live is what made me fall head over heels in love.

    Yes exactly!!!
Something about them live is just magical <3
Nothing compares to gunnin live the way they start out acoustic and then the drums and the whole mix comes in towards the end. ahhh : )
Haha I remember that night I had a dinner party thing to go to so I went to the concert saying that I would leave early...then once Hedley started I seriously could not make myself leave! I was...really late haha!

I'm not in Canada, so was able to take Hubbs to see Hedley with him having no preconceptions about them at all! He LOVED their live show!

Now I'm not expecting him to post on here anytime soon, because it's not his thing, but I don't think he'd hesitate to go see them again!

i dont know that many guys

    Huemy, Down here in Seattle,

Down here in Seattle, Hedley has three guy fans that think they fuckin' rock!. Hit us up.

    When Hedley first started

When Hedley first started doing shows in 2005, the audience was most definitely female, you might have seen one or two males hiding in the corner. Over the last 3 years, the female to male ratio has slowly changed.

I remember last year being at some shows, the males honestly looked like they didn't want to be there and were bad mouthing Hedley before they took the stage. As Hedley worked through their set, you could see the change in these same males. They went from being rude, to singing along, to actually trying to touch Jake when he'd teasingly hang his hands out over the audience to actually yelling for an encore.

Nowadays, it's not unsual to see a number of males in the early line ups, or signing along to the songs, or to see them standing in line for autographs, or wearing Hedley shirts.

Just think, the more males that come to the shows, the less we will have to listen to the fanny girls yelling "Jake you're so frickin' hot" or "Jake I want your babies", etc. etc.

With all this talk of male Hedley fans, I'm honestly curious to see how their show on August 13 turns out - this is the show that is part of the NFL Buffalo Bills Kick-off Party in Toronto. Like the BonJovi tour, the demographics of most of this audience will be completely different then they are used to. If the band works it right, there could be some more doors opened as a result.
