Jake Gold from Idol has been posting a blog throughout the show. This week (top 4) there was some mention of Jake.

Q: I think the one problem with all shows that you vote for is it's more a popularity contest. Do you believe that?
I think there's a certain factor to the idea that there's a popularity contest but historically if you look over all of our shows in almost every case the best person won. Now some people would point to Season 2 and say well Jacob Hoggard should've won but I think Jacob Hoggard actually intentionally tried not to win when it came down to three left. Those of you who were watching the show then, and paying attention, remember at one point he did post a message on his own website, which the message was subsequently pulled down, where he asked people not to vote for him but enough people had read it that it probably had some effect. His performance in the Top 3 definitely wasn't up to par. In fact when he got eliminated and had to perform the song again, it was a way, way better version.
Q: Jake, a couple of times you've referred to Jacob as the only successful member of the Top 3 since the show began. I don't think Kalan is doing so badly for himself ... How do you define success?
think when you have a platform such as Idol when millions of people are watching you every week I think the level of success is judged by your sales and the kind of concert business you're doing and this isn't being disrespectful to Kalan because I like Kalan, but to compare Kalan's success to Jacob's success is ridiculous. Jacob's sold way, way, more records and plays way bigger venues. He's had a U.S. release on his record, he's toured in the U.S., he's got a lot more going for him.
Q: You have said previous that this year's crop of performers are on the whole better overall artists than many competitors in the past seasons have been. If you could pick 3 competitors that could be on the current season and give these competitors a run for their money (and perhaps even finish higher than they did in their own respective seasons), who would it be and why?
Jenny Gear from Season 1, Jacob Hoggard from Season 2 and I'd have to still stick with someone like Brian Melo, who I thought was a really deserving winner and was the first kind of real rocker that we managed to put in front of the Canadian public.

butt clearly Jacob Hoggard is doing like 2154165 times better then Kalan Porter
