    honestly the best advice i

honestly the best advice i can give you is to soak every second of it in. it goes by so fast and your first year only happens once. cherish everything.

and as much as the work might suck, try not to hate it, makes a difference.
and don't be nervous for class, hopefully you've picked something you want so you should enjoy it, just remember your working towards your future.

and really have fun and be friendly, don't be afraid to talk to someone or go hang out, you could be meeting a great friend that you will have for the rest of you life.

don't take any of it for granted.

    haha and enjoy those parties!

well i've been afraid of changin' 'cause i built my life around you

i just moved out on the

i just moved out on the 16th.
then i came home for a few days, and i'm going back today and probably wont be back until thanksgiving.
if you get upset when you're parents are leaving, don't say good-bye, say i'll 'i'll see you later'.
it sounds lame, but i found it to really help. saying good-bye just sounds like you're never gonna see them again.
and yea, like the person above me said, enjoy every minute of it.
just think about it, we're in school until mid December then we're off for a few weeks. first semester is just a little over 3 months.
second semester is like 4 months, so it's gonna go by way quick.

and don't be afraid to meet new people.
i've been on the facebook group for my college for a while now and i've been talking to some other people on there who are in the same class me.

make at least one friend in

make at least one friend in every class. it comes very helpful if you happen to be sick or something happens and that way you can get hte notes from them- or even become study partners- and compare notes in case one of you missed something. and its always nice to know someone.

and all first years are in the same vote- so dont feel like your alone. keep ahead of the game- dont procastinate as you will fall behind so fast as the material goes really fast.

    but just have fun

    Alyssa!

    haha yes def don't

    haha yes def don't procrastinate

well i've been afraid of changin' 'cause i built my life around you

    haha, good advice
it's not like highschool where you can take a day off whenever you want and catch up the next day.
you're actually paying thousands of dollars, hahaha

    I'm so nervous for next

I'm so nervous for next Wednesday. I'm going to York University and we had Frosh week this week, so next week we're starting school. I thought I was ready for this until Orientation, freaked me out just a little.

Just getting around campus gives me hives! I'll be walking around with a map for like 2 months guaranteed.

Frosh Week, is MADEEE! for residence kids..I would have loved to be living on Res during Frosh, they all form friendships quickly and look so close within the first couple days. Julia you'll make so many friends during that week since your gonna be on Res its insane enjoy it!!

    - Maybe I won't forgive, I'll just forget you lived.

one of my good friends is

one of my good friends is staying in res at york this year, what college are you in?

    I'm in Calumet college.

    I'm in Calumet college.

    - Maybe I won't forgive, I'll just forget you lived.

i go next year, so i'm sure

i go next year, so i'm sure i'll be in here with questions when application time rolls around.

anyone going to the ontario universities fair this year in toronto?

oh cool, hes in mac, or

oh cool, hes in mac, or macglacklin however you spell it.

Im gonna miss going back to

Im gonna miss going back to College, 2 years wasn't enough.
Just remember that everybody there is pretty much in the same position as you, it will be easy to make friends, live it up, but stay on track of your work at school cuz once it builds up it gets way stressfull. Enjoy. Residence is the best, so many partys, especally during the first week.

& ohh man I remember going to the college/uni fair in toronto, I got my mom to sign a note saying she was going to pick me up from there and me and my friends just spent the rest of the day chilling in Toronto and got our friend to pick us up later.

    I'm going with my cousin

I'm going with my cousin tomorrow to get her settled into college. She's nervous. So am I. hahaha.

    here we stand, dreamin' hard

AH! It is SUCH a change to be

AH! It is SUCH a change to be in such a big school.
I came from a school of 450 to a school of a couple thousand people!
This is CRAZY! But i love it.

    Brittni

    I went from a school of 500

I went from a school of 500 to a school of like 50,000. I feel so small lol, the eyecandy has improved a lot though.

    - Maybe I won't forgive, I'll just forget you lived.

    sooo i'm at queen's and it's

sooo i'm at queen's and it's so friggin awesome! my building is right by the lake and the weather is so nice this week so we've been swimming like every day, playing frisbee and stuff.. i feel like i'm at camp.
i love my roommate but so far i'm not that impressed with the people on my floor. from what it seems, all the guys are jerks and really cocky. there are a lot of really ditzy blonde girls who i can't stand haha. but the spirit here is RIDICULOUS.

    i started school yesterday

i started school yesterday and love it soo much.
i have already met some pretty awesome people and had a little hangout at my apartment today cause our second class got cancelled and my apartment is right by the school, so a bunch of people came over and just chilled for 3 hours until our next class.

theres only like 7 girls in my class, and like 18/19 guys, and some of the guys are veryyyy good looking, hahaha

it's gonna be a lot more work than i expected though, like i never expected it to be easy, but we have a bunch of events to go to and projects to do. it's not really gonna be hard, just more like hectic.

    Tara

    Yea, definitely enjoy your

Yea, definitely enjoy your first year. I'm going into my 3rd year and it has FLOWN by. I keep reliving moments from previous years and it's just made my time at university that much better. It's hard, though, to stay focused. I had a bit of a breakdown and rarely went to class and almost failed a few classes, but hopefully I can bounce back and figure out a way to stay on top of things. Definitely MAKE TIME TO HAVE FUN, but don't make that you're top priority.

Uuuuum, any other questions? I'm free to answer anything!
    Good luck everyone!

i crave you close, i need you near.

haha...try going from a school of like 250 to a school of like 30000. what a big difference!

University for me was such a big change but i love it now. By the end of my first year i was soo ready to be done. i was so stressed out and sick of studying. [then again who isn't] but then summer came and it was nice for awhile but by the beginning of August i was sooo ready to go back. i'm pumped for my first day of classes tomorrow!

but yeah all i can say is just have fun but still make sure you do your very best on EVERYTHING. there is no half assing it in university.

    its definatly an experience!
    Good luck!

I'm in grade 12 and I have no

I'm in grade 12 and I have no idea what I want to do after I graduate. I've looked through like every course in a few of these books from colleges and stuff from a couple years ago and nothing seems interesting really.
I was thinking maybe graphic design, or I might just do a general year/university transition year just incase I actually find something that is somewhat interesting at a university

    !¤Tara¤! since August 04

    in all honesty, i would

in all honesty, i would recommend to anyone to take a year off.
i did that and it was literally the best thing i've ever done.
i was going to take something completely different, i got accepted to school and everything, but then i decided no to. i am glad i didn't go because i got to work and save money and i found that i really grew up in that year and i found what i really wanted to do.
i am in the perfect class now, and if i didn't take a year off then i wouldn't be.

    frosh week was soooo bomb

frosh week was soooo bomb there are so many ridiculous traditions here and it's just amazing. classes start tomorrow... ahhh.

tara- i was in the same boat.

tara- i was in the same boat. but i figured that i suck at math and science, and i'm not too bad at writing essays.. so i applied for arts. first year i'm taking all the courses that interest me and then deciding what i want to major in.

thats why i like the u of

thats why i like the u of manitoba.
they have a mandatory first year program (U1) and most faculties you have to take that before you apply. that way you can take the intro classes and see if that's what you want to do, or take random classes so see what your interested in.
if you already know its kinda a waste, but i thought i knew, and now since i didnt get in my faculty (not high enough GPA for competition) i found something else im interested in and might pursue now.

    Alyssa!

    I just started university

I just started university last week and so far I love it. I was really scared about making new friends because I've never switched schools except for when I went into grade 9, but even then I had all my friends with me, but so far I've made so many new friends and I can already tell this year is going to be a blast.

I'm going to Guelph where everyone is taking sciences so their schedules compared to mine are ridiculously hard and it makes me so happy that I'm taking arts.

i love my classes so far!!

i love my classes so far!! last night for film we got to watch crash.
however i already have 20 pages of reading for world religions due tomorrow and it takes so friggin long.

My Film and Psych class so

My Film and Psych class so far are the ones that interest me most. I think my least favorite at the momment is my Philosophy class, just because the readings we've done so far aren't interesting at all.

I think my biggest problem is gonna be unerestimating what I think a)I'm capable of and b)the work involved. I'll read the course outlines and think "oh wow this seems so easy" but I doubt it will be or else so many people wouldn't struggle with first year. Also the fact that I look at "Tests: Only multiple choice" as a good thing, when I hear its actually the hardest kind of test because its tricky and could have possible right answers.

You realize how little your highschool prepared you for university once you get there. I barely did any essays and rarely studied more then an hour for a test or exam. I knew what the teachers expected/wanted and could BS my way though it to a 80% average. Now I have no idea what I'm doing and feel soooo lost)

On a lighter note, the boys are extremely good-looking, and carry themselves so well. Its a good change.

    - Maybe I won't forgive, I'll just forget you lived.

    i reeally don't like my

i reeally don't like my history prof. she started a lecture on the first day and i have no idea what she was even talking about. considering most people in the class probably don't know much about world history, she didn't give us enough background info and just took off....

    I feel myself not knowing

I feel myself not knowing what to do with all my free time:| haha
but that's just cause i've only had two lectures for the same course so i do not have any homework of sorts yet.

I wish I had more free time.

I wish I had more free time. Oh and when I pick my classes for next semester I'm definitely picking ones that don't start at 8:30.

My classes so far are pretty good. Some classes there's a lot of reading and right now I'm sick and sleeping a lot and I'm kind of falling behind on all the reading I have to do.

Also I'm finding it a lot harder to skip classes. Last year if I didn't feel like going to class I just wouldn't but now, I still don't want to go to class but I have to.
